Telemetry and data collection

To help us improve our product, we collect some anonymous telemetry data. This document explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how you can opt-out.

Why we collect data

We use telemetry to understand how our product is used, to identify and fix problems, and to make informed decisions about future development. The data we collect helps us to:

  • Improve the user experience.
  • Prioritize new features and improvements.
  • Identify and resolve bugs and performance issues.
  • Understand the environments in which our product is used.

What information we collect

We are committed to your privacy. Our telemetry system is designed to collect only the data we need to improve our product, and we take care to avoid collecting any personal or sensitive information.

The data we collect is anonymous and may include:

  • Usage Statistics: Information about which features are being used and how often.
  • Performance Data: Information about the performance of the product, such as response times and error rates. This may include crash reports with stack traces, which are anonymized.
  • Environment Information: The operating system, application version, and other anonymous environment details.

We do not collect:

  • Any personally identifiable information (PII).
  • Usernames, email addresses, or other personal details.
  • Any content you create or data you process with the product.

How to Opt-Out

You can opt-out of telemetry collection at any time.

To disable telemetry, please follow these steps:

  • set the STERFIVE_DISABLE_TELEMETRY environment variable to '1'.

For example, you might set an environment variable, in linux or macOS terminal:

export STERFIVE_DISABLE_TELEMETRY=1
